Services:
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Grace Community Church with the Rev. Rod Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Wayne Price, Carl Manning, Bruce Amick, Chris Kinard, Terry Ouzts, Butch Power and Anthony Brazzell. The family is at the home of her daughter, Donna Ouzts, 118 Freeway Road. Memorials may be made to Solaris Hospice, 129 Straight Drive, Anderson, SC 29621.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends at Grace Community Church on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.
Obituary:
Mary Gatlin Strickland, 85, widow of Bennie Pierce Strickland, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at NHC Health Care Center. Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Herman Lee Gatlin, Sr. and Lizzie Ella Riddle Gatlin. She retired from Bayberry Retirement Inn and was a member of Grace Community Church. Mary was a dedicated Christian, always striving to do what the Lord would have her to do by serving others in need, whether it was her family, church family or anyone in the community. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Hollie Ouzts of Greenwood; a brother and sister-in-law, Herman L. “Buddy” and Norma Gatlin of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Kinard and her husband, Chris, of Greenwood and Bennie Pierce Ouzts and his wife, Kristina, of Newberry. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret G. Franklin and Hazel G. Rickenbaker and a brother, James Robert Gatlin.
