The Caring Never Stops
The emotions of sorrow and loss do not go away after the funeral, and neither do we. Since we understand how deeply the loss of a loved one affects the surviving family, the quality of our aftercare services is especially important to us. Our extensive lending library is open to the public and contains valuable resource materials on issues relating to death, grief, bereavement, explaining death to children, and other important matters. If you or a family member needs some additional emotional support in coping with grief, please turn to us, and to Maximum Living Support Groups.
The founder of Maximum Living, Dr. John Canine, is a minister, therapist, counselor, educator and public speaker. The programs he has developed help groups of bereaved persons draw strength and support from each other, and from within themselves. We offer our assistance in partnership with Maximum Living, and have always been gratified by the help and solace offered to our client families.
Twice a month, our funeral home is host to two different support groups one for parents who have lost a child and one for anyone coping with a loss. Dr. Sue Nickerson, who facilitates our monthly grief support groups, has a Master’s Degree in Counseling and a Doctorate in Christian Counseling. She holds licensure in South Carolina, Maryland, and Illinois, and has been active in the counseling field for 10 years. Trained in both bereavement and crisis counseling, Dr. Nickerson sees her role as a mental health counselor to encourage and support, as well as to facilitate the process of recovery and growth.
