Benjamin Harvey Burnette, Jr., 87, of 805 Rockhouse Road, husband of Liller Powell Burnette, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Benjamin Harvey Burnette, Sr. and Cecil Vaughn Burnette. He retired from the South Carolina National Guard following 37 years of service and also retired from Greenwood Mills. He was a member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home is a son, Benjamin Harvey Burnette, III, of McCormick and a daughter, Susan Steely (Michael) of Greenwood; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Jerry Burnette and a sister, Kathline Burnette.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryant Sims officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at the church cemetery.
Honorary escort will be Michael Steely, Jr.
The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the church.
