John Carroll Noffz, 71, of 217 Salak Road, husband of Carol Parkman Noffz, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cross Hill, he was a son of the late John Richard and Mattie Cornelia Edwards Noffz. He was retired from Precision Plus and had served in the US Navy. Carroll was active with the Farmers Markets in Greenwood and Abbeville and was known as "The Tomato Man" for the many tomatoes that he grew to both sell and give away and enjoyed caring for the many irises that he grew in his yard. He loved his grandchildren and loved playing checkers with his friend, Peanut Johnson. He was also a member of the Old Men of Highway 10 Club and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving is his wife of the home; his children, Wesley Noffz (Angie) of Greenwood, Delane Hood (Michael) of Anderson and Michael Noffz (Pam) of Bradley; his sister, Betty Powers of Greenwood; his brother, Darrell Noffz (Diane) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Cassidy Noffz, Conner Noffz, Mark Gonce, Matthew Gonce, Logan Hood, Haven Hanley, Kayla Noffz and Kinsley Noffz; and great grandchildren, Nolan Gonce and Peyton Hanley.
