Obituary

Mrs. Mattie Inez Land Rivers, 91, of Wesley Commons Healthcare Center and formerly of Ninety Six, departed this life on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. She was born September 28, 1920 in Anderson County. Her parents were Samuel Edward and Bertie Earl Fisher Land. She married Coley L. Rivers in 1939 and lovingly cared for him through a long illness until his death in 1991. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Ninety Six Plant, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Inez has been a member of Duke Street Baptist Church, now Temple Baptist Church, for 70 years, where she was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and had served as the Sunbeam leader. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Land Brabham; brothers, Emanuiel Land and J. W. �Skeeter� Land; and a special nephew, R. Lanny Brabham. She is survived by her baby sister, Joyce Land Smith and a sister-in-law, Marian "Bill " Land, both of Ninety Six. She also leaves eight devoted nieces and nephews, Alma L. Holden, Janice L. Griffin, Robin L. Cobb, Jimmy Boswell, Gail B. Wilson, Karen L. Martin, Mark L. Smith and Madeline Davis Brabham.
