Gerald "Jerry" Schrier, 73, of Greenwood, husband of Judy Daily Schrier, joined The Lord on October 26, 2018, in the care of Hospice House.
Jerry was born in The Bronx, NY. He was the son of the late Sarah "Goldie" Jeshiva Boyarsky and Ahrend Boyarsky.
Jerry was a devoted and selfless husband and father, who never missed a ball game, school performance, or a chance to take his wife to dinner. He retired in 2015, as a celebrated trainer and manager of Rooms To Go Furniture. His incredible hard working spirit, contagious sense of humor, and humility were inspirations to all those around him. He was an encyclopedic lover of sports and music, who could easily tell you what Mickey Mantle batted in 1957, or every lyric to "Mack The Knife". He never passed up a chance to tell stories, often of his animated childhood in New York City. Jerry and his wife Judy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2018. His loving spirit and memory will never be forgotten.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Angie Proctor (Steve) of Greenwood and David Schrier (Jessica) of Greenfield, MA; His sister Sylvia VanDeMark of Daytona Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Amanda Stowe, Ashlea Proctor, and Chase Proctor; and great grandchildren, Hope Proctor, Harper Stowe, and Kason Stowe.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday at Abney Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Bennett officiating, and Harley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family mourns his loss and celebrates his life at the home of his daughter.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorials be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of The Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
