Chaplain Bonnie Jean Franke of Columbia, SC passed away April 22, 2017 in Lexington, KY after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Darwin and June Franke of Greenwood, SC, members of Tranquil United Methodist Church until their death. Bonnie was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 22, 1956.
She is survived by siblings, Susan J. Prenatt, of Lexington, KY, Lewis J. Franke (Laurel), of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Melba F. Leach (Roy), and Cynthia F. Dominick (Jim) of Lexington, KY as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Bonnie received masters in both education and divinity for which she was cited and awarded for her dedication to service. Faith was the cornerstone of Bonnie's life and work. She used her chaplaincy to minister to those with mental illness and the elderly. In addition, Bonnie was a founding member of Emmanuel Baptist Fellowship in Lexington, SC.
A memorial service will be held in Bonnie's honor at 10 am on Saturday, July 15th at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with visitation before from 9-10 am. Bonnie will be buried next to her parents.
According to Bonnie's wishes lemonade and sugar cookies will be enjoyed after a graveside prayer at Tranquil United Methodist Church, 1702 McCormick Hwy., Greenwood, SC.
