Sally Sprott

Sally Ann McWatty Sprott, 78, wife of Claude Thomas "Tommy" Sprott, passed away on December 26, 2023, at Hospice House following a very brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Cmdr. Ernest Carlton McWatty (USN, retired) and Phyllis Jeffers Snyder McWatty. She was born in Augusta, GA while her father was in England during World War II. After the war ended, her mother took Sally and her brother, Robert, to stay in England and while there, Sally, was baptized in John Wesley's Chapel in London. Her father's career allowed the family to reside in many interesting locations through the years, such as Guam and Hawaii and upon his retirement in 1957, they settled in Greenwood and Sally graduated from Greenwood High School in 1963. She was formerly employed at The Index Journal and Greenwood Motor Lines, and she and Tommy worked side by side at North Main Texaco, where Sally served as the office manager. She also was a patient sitter in her later years,which brought her much joy. Sally's faith played a central role in her life. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Greenwood, and she regularly attended Ninety Six Presbyterian Church, where Tommy is a member and an elder. Sally will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, caring nature, and dedication to her family, who she always put first. She was most proud to be Nanny to her precious grandchildren, who she loved unconditionally. Her gentle presence and warm smile touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Sally is survived by her husband of 61 years, Tommy; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ruple Harley, III of Ninety Six; her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Tammie Sprott of Simpsonville; her grandchildren, Kerri and Will Thompson, Davis Renee and Theo Migdalas, all of Greenwood, Ben Harley of West Columbia and Chase and Tyler Calvert of Simpsonville; great grandchildren, Annie and Thomas Migdalas of Greenwood and Emory Calvert of Simpsonville; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Carlton "Bob" and Becky McWatty of Hartsville and James Edward "Jimmy" McWatty of Greenwood; nieces and nephews, Beth McWatty, Leslie McWatty Wilkes, Scott McWatty (Amanda), Jeremy McWatty and Lindsay Lawrence (John); great nieces and nephews, Madeline and Noah Wilkes, Riley and Ryan Heim, Bella McWatty, Evan and Abbey Lawrence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Jeffers "Jeff" McWatty. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Keck and Rev. Ray Bell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care given by the nurses and staff of Self Regional Medical Center and Hospice House.
