Albert Edwin �Al� Evans, 88, resident of Wesley Commons, husband to Anna Kaufman Evans, died peacefully in his sleep January 12, 2009. Born on April 30, 1920 in Essex County, NJ, he was the son of the late Albert and Edna Fisher Evans. Mr. Evans was a Staff Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, having served during World War II in the South Pacific. Al worked for Ohaus Scale Corp. and retired in 1984 as vice president and director of international sales, after which he began his own business, Evans International, which he sold in 2005. He was an active participant in Boy Scouts, a past president of the Caldwell/West Caldwell School Board, an elder of the Roseland Presbyterian Church and active in numerous community and professional activities in the Caldwell/West Caldwell, NJ area. Survivors include his wife, Anna K. Evans, of Wesley Commons, Greenwood, SC; a son, Albert E. Evans, Jr. of Salem, SC; two daughters, Susan E. Lewine of Duxbury, MA and Pamela Evans of Boulder, CO; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
