Alfred Douglas Hellams, 81, of 306 Beach Drive, Ninety Six, died Friday, April 24, 2015. Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late C. H. and Tommie Coker Hellams. Al graduated from Clemson University in 1955, earning his B.S. degree in Textile Manufacturing and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. He retired from the Greenwood Mills Service Department as Director of Quality Control. Al was an avid Clemson fan and a member of IPTAY. He was a member of the Hejaz Shriners, Mathews Lodge #358 A.F.M. and Laurel Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Mens Bible Class. He leaves behind his family, Dorothy Bledsoe Hellams, Donna Aga, Richard Aga, Josh Prather, Amy Simpson, Cody Aga, Caleb and Allie Simpson, Madison Aga, Raye Hellams, Marsha Purvis and Jan Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his brother, C. H. Hellams. The family is at the home of Dot Hellams, 114 Mayapple.
