Alex James Smith, 21, of Greenwood, SC, passed away on June 1, 2009. Alex was born in Charleston and was a 2005 graduate of Fort Dorchester High School. Alex had a distinguished Air Force career with the 315 Civil Engineering Squadron/560th Red Horse Squadron Charleston AFB, SC and served his country honorably. He was also employed by One Hour Heating & Air. Alex is survived by his loving mother, Robin M Taylor of New Mexico, his father, Rudolph L. Smith, Jr. of Charleston; his devoted brother and sister-in-law, Rudolph L. Smith, III and Chasidy Smith of Greenwood; his niece, Alexie Smith and his grandparents, Wes and Cleo Compton of California and Mildred Smith of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rudolph L. Smith, Sr.
