Alice Fletcher Freeman Norton, 96, formerly of Greenville and Greenwood, widow of the Rev. Ernest L. Norton, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community, Laurens. Born in Palmetto, GA, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lula Gaston Freeman. She retired from Super X Drug Store and was a member of Northgate Baptist Church, Greenville. Surviving are two daughters, Jerry N. Gaines and her husband, Rodgers, of Simpsonville, Judy N. Scott and her husband, George, of Greenville; a sister, Lois Smith of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Stan Gaines and his wife, Shirley, of Greenwood, Denise Taylor and her husband, Davis, of Yardley, PA, Keith Gaines and his wife, Amy, of Simpsonville and Ashli Gaines of Greenville; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
