Allan Wellsley Blackburn, 72, of 718 Stillwell Road, husband of Iris McDowell Blackburn, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Hospice House. Born in Milwaukee, WI, Allan was raised in the home of the late Lawrence and Margaret Smotherman. He was an U. S. Air Force veteran where he spent two tours in Vietnam as a navigator on B-52 Bombers. Allan received his Bachelors� degree in both Anthropology and Astronomy and he taught Physics. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, David King and his wife, Jessica Clemente; a step-son, Brandon Hodge; a brother, Douglas Blackburn and his wife Wendy Weinberg; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Harris Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Center Street, Greenwood, SC 29649 or the charity of one�s choice. The family is at the home.
