Anna H. Painter, 91, surrounded by family, went to be with her Lord early on Sunday, October 9, 2011. She was a resident of Wesley Commons, Greenwood. She was born in Honaker, VA on January 24, 1920 to the late Charles W. and Pearl Porter Hurt. She was married to the late Nile Kent Painter and was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Dr. Cecil Hurt and Dr. George Hurt. She is survived by her two sons, James W. Painter (Alice) of Los Alamos, NM and Thomas M. Painter (Sherrill) of Chapin, SC. She had five precious grandchildren, Lauren Painter, Michael Painter, Amy Albright, Anne Corbin and Elizabeth Painter and seven great grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud. Mrs. Painter received her education from Brenau College, Gainesville, GA, and the National Business College, Roanoke, VA, where she met her beloved husband, Kent, with whom she was happily married for more than 50 years. She retired as a long time employee of the Department of Commerce, Springfield, VA. She was a former member of Little River United Methodist Church, Little River, SC and was presently a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Greenwood. The family would like to gratefully thank all of the employees of Wesley Commons for their caring and unselfish service during her residency there and to the nursing staff on the 8th floor of Self Regional Hospital for the dedicated and loving care they gave during her last few days.
