Annie Ruth Powell Black, 88, widow of Willie Raymond Black, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Hospice House.

Born in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Courtney Powell and Annie Rodgers Powell. Annie Ruth retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Allen; grandson, Anthony Tyler Black; brother, Johnnie Ray Powell; sisters, Loretta Wright and Glenda Rodgers; and a daughter in law, Lynda Black.

Surviving are her children, Dolores Simpson (Dale) of Greenwood, Freddie Black (Jeanette), Joseph Black, and Tony Black (Angie), all of Ninety Six; sisters, Carolyn Temples (Kenneth) and Mildred Hall (Victor); brother, Larry Powell (Tammy); son in law, Ray Allen; grandchildren, Kristina Nanna (Michael), Eddie Black (Meshael), Kenny Black (Chase), Ashley Fingar (Walter), Charlie Allen, Michael Allen, Catrisha Parris (Jason), Kayla Allen, Heather George (Casey), Jessica Schultz (Jason), Justin Simpson (Kristi), and Tommy Sweatt; twenty four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Francisco Oñate-Vargas officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Black, Kenney Black, Justin Simpson, Charles Allen, Michael Allen, Tommy Sweatt and Anthony Gregory.

Rosary will be held at 5 pm on Monday at Harley Funeral Home with visitation following until 7pm.
