Obituary

Annie Rinehart Butler, 89, of 603 Cross Street, widow of E. L. Butler, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Hospice House. Born in Saluda County, she was the daughter of the late Colan Eugene Rinehart and Estelle Hallman Rinehart. Mrs. Butler retired from Greenwood Mill, Mathews Plant. She enjoyed working with flowers, earning a certificate in floral design from Piedmont Technical College, and working in her garden, sharing her produce with family and friends. She was a Christian and loved her church, South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she had taught Sunday school for many years and sang in the choir. Surviving are two daughters, Taffy Ann Hughes and her husband, Frank, of Enoree and Wanda Edmunds and her husband, Bruce, of Hodges; three sons, Colan L. Butler and his wife, Debbie, of Greenwood, Barry Wayne Butler and his wife, Sally, of Waterloo and Randy A. Butler and his best friend, Jake, of Greenwood; a sister, Doris Smith of Greenwood; a brother, Gerald Rinehart of Laurens; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. The family wishes to express very special thanks to Patricia Thackerson for loving and taking care of their mother as her caretaker and blessed friend. Memorials may be made to Hospice House, HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at the home.
