Arlington (Arlie) Raymond Harman, Jr. 82, of 1110 Marshall Road, husband of Barbara Brown Harman, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Bloomsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Arlington Raymond Harman, Sr., and Helen Deiterich Harman. Arlie received his Masters in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, class of 1955. Following graduation, he served in the US Navy as Chief Engineer on the USS Gearing DD710. In 1958 he was released from active duty and began his career as a Pharmaceutical Engineer with Proctor and Gamble, Cincinnati, OH. Arlie continued to work in production and quality management for Bristol-Meyers in Syracuse, NY, Bausch & Lomb in Rochester, NY, and The West Company, in Phoenixville, PA. Arlie was a member of the Seneca Lions Club where he was involved in a state wide campaign to fund vision research projects at Storm Eye Institute (MUSC) in Charleston. He and his wife, Barbara are members of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca, SC. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Shirley Harman and husband, Hank Hamilton of Pollock Pines, CA, Dale Harman and wife, Wendy of Freehold, NJ, and Glenn Harman who is traveling the ocean at large; and two grandchildren, Scott and Mark Harman.
