Arthur Jackson �A. J.� Cox, 75, of 225 Alabama Avenue, beloved husband of Martha Day Cox, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Norman and Viola Knight Cox. He was retired from Monsanto, was a former Mason and was of the Baptist faith. He always enjoyed being surrounded by his large family, who were all very loving and attentive. Surviving is his wife of 56 years; three daughters, Gail Koerber and her husband, Karl, of Greenwood, Linda Shirley of Ninety Six and Judy Farmer and her husband, Toney, of Greenwood; a son, Richard Arthur �Ricky� Cox and his wife, Dina, of Linthicum, MD; two sisters, Ruby Southerland of Greenwood and Minnie White of Abbeville; four brothers, Bobby Cox of Greenwood, Harold Cox of Bowman, GA, Marvin Cox and Troy Cox, both of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren, Amy Todd, Jessica Hilton, Tricia Beck, Joey Shirley, Josh Shirley, Anthony Cox, Christina Selle, Jennifer Cox, Jami Moore and Jeremy Farmer; 16 great grandchildren, Christian Lucas, Katelyn Lucas, Hannah Todd, Noah Todd, Austin Baldwin, Olivia Baldwin, Brandon Beck, Dillon Beck, Laura Shirley, Joshua Shirley, Jonathan Shirley, Raven Shirley, Jenny Shirley, Tori Moore, Alli Grayce Moore and Zachary Moore. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, William Conner Beck and a brother, John Cox.
