Ben Edward Kelley, 86, of 324 Scotch Cross Road East, husband of Ruth Riser Kelley, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Pickens, he was a son of the late Paul F. and Emma Owens Kelley. He retired from Professional Medical Products as a maintenance supervisor and was a proud US Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Kelley was a past commander of the American Legion in Ninety Six where he served as the chaplain, was a member of the V.F.W., and Abney Memorial Baptist Church, where he formerly served as the Music Director. He was also a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class. Surviving is his wife of the home; daughters, Joy Pescatore of Greenwood, Diane K. Worrill and her husband Tommy, of Ware Shoals; grandchildren Jaime M. Kelley of Newberry and Taylor A. Pescatore of Greenwood; sister, Dolly Bryson of Brevard, NC; and sisters-in-law Edith Kelley of Saluda and Florine Kelley of Greenwood. He was preceded in death by sisters, Bertha Bryson and Nellie Fisher and brothers, Walter Kelley, Clyde Kelley, Charlie Kelley, Wilburn Kelley, and John Kelley. A memorial service with military honors celebrating his life will be conducted in the chapel of Harley Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28th, at 3:00 PM with The Reverend Bryant Sims and The Reverend Brent Bennett officiating. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Kelley�s family requests that memorials be made to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 West Evergreen Avenue, Suite 204, Chicago, IL, 60642 or The Alzheimer�s Association, Upstate Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Anderson, SC, 29621 The family is at the home and will receive friends from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM on Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home.
