Benjamin Harvey Burnette, III, 73, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Benjamin Harvey Burnette, Jr. and Liller "Lois" Powell Burnette. Benji enjoyed the beach and mountains, drinking coffee, Coca-Cola or Pepsi, No. 2 pencils and watching many different comedy T.V. shows. He loved to laugh and cutup with his best friend Mike. Benji was a very smart intellectual and deeply caring gentleman who could make anyone smile. He worked in the Burton Center's workshop with cameras to keep him busy.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Jerry Burnette and a niece, Jennifer Burnette.
Surviving are a sister, Susan B. Steely (Michael); nieces and nephews: Michael Steely, Jr., Candice Campbell, Heather Fuller, Magen Bartless; and several great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, August 5, 2024, at First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. George Atkins officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 2:00-3:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be his family; Michael Steely Sr., Mike Steely Jr., D.J. Campbell, Perry Powell, Hampton Hughes and Eric Inks.
The family will be at Benji's sisters home.
