Bertha Stone Malpass, 81, of 100 Pinsonville Road, Greenwood, widow of Buck Malpass, died Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at JF Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry.
Born in Whitmire, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Erin Chapman Stone. Bertha retired from Monsanto after 31 years and was a member of Emerald Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Hutto; and two brothers, Hilt Stone and Gene Stone.
Surviving are her children, Joyce Shaw of Whitmire, Tammy Gettys and Ronnie Malpass, both of Greenwood; a brother, Melvin Stone of Union; four sisters, Pearl Kinard, Helen Coffey, Sherline Crumpton, all of Whitmire and Frankie Altman (Frankie) of Prosperity; six grandchildren, Joey Shaw (Lori), Amanda Mayers Jones, Amie Prince, Kayla Livingston (Dwight), Dustin Shaw and Quentin Shaw; and five great grandchildren, Jacob Prince, Christopher Prince, Cade Prince, Taylor Mayers and Mason Livingston.
Services will be held at 3 pm on Monday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 1-3 pm.
Family members are at their respective homes.
