Obituary
Bessie Lee Ables Allen, 89, formerly of Montague Avenue Extension, widow of Cecil Edward Allen, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Cleo Davis Ables. Bessie was a homemaker and was a member of Hodges Church of God where she was in the Ladies Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by five sisters; three brothers; and a grandson, Chris Gaines.
Surviving are her children: Roger Allen (Barbara), Dennis Allen (Anne), Sheryl McElroy (Kenny), Janet Latimer (Terry), Tammy Bagwell (Ronnie), Vernon Allen (Toula) and Kim Allen; a brother, Jimmy Ables; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Caldwell and Rev. Johnnie Waller officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hodges Church of God, 40802 Highway 25 North, Hodges, SC 29653.
