Betty Jean Butler, 78, of 1913 Scotch Cross Road, wife of Joseph Dimaggio "J.D." Butler, died Monday, June 27, 2016.
Born in Wilkes County, GA, she the daughter of the late Frank Eddie and Agnes Bolton Fain. She was employed by Carolina Pathology at Self Regional Medical Center, where she served as a billing agent. Betty was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Edith Fain.
Surviving is her husband of the home; two daughters, Rollyn Smith and her husband, Luis Gonzalez, and Lindsey Ek and her husband, Chris; two sons, Dale Butler and Dustin Butler; five grandchildren, Rev. Amy Laye, Charles Edward Laye, III and his wife, Samantha, Angela and Rodger Blackmon; and seven great grandchildren, Ed Laye, Shiloah Searer and her husband, Matt, Matthew Wilson, Megan Boswell, John West "J.W." Boswell, and Brianna Blackmon, all of Greenwood; a brother, Henry Fain, of Danburg, Ga; and her beloved dog, Poppy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason McCary and the Rev. Amy Laye officiating and with Karon Strickland delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Strickland, Jeff Temples, Sammy Butler, Matt Searer, John Dorn, and Cody Dorn.
Honorary escort will be friends and "family" of Self Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Harley Funeral Home.
