Betty J. Boyd Byrd, 78, of 116 Calhoun Road East, widow of William Rogers Byrd Sr., died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Hospice House. Born in Greensboro, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Gordon and Violet Strickland Boyd. She was an office manager at Union Color and Chemical and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Union. Surviving are two sons, William Byrd, Jr. of Travelers Rest and Barry Byrd (Georgia Ann) of Port St. Lucie, FL; a daughter, Karen Wilson (Charles) of Greenwood; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Brandon and Doris Poteat. In lieu of flowers the family asks that they be omitted and memorials be made to Hospice House; 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, 29646. The family members are at their respective homes.
