Betty Mae Powell, 83, of 110 McDowell Street, widow of James Rayford Powell, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at her home. Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Dollie Mae Fain Boswell. She was a beautician and was the original owner of the Merle Norman Studio in Greenwood. She was a member of Laurel Baptist Church. Surviving is a daughter, Gloria �Dodie� Devine and her husband, Adrian, of Lawrenceville, GA; a sister, Shirley (Bob) Boulter of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Franky (Linda) Boswell of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Renee Rafanelli (Christopher) of Dacula, GA, Paul Devine of Greenwood, Travis Devine of Atlanta, GA, Christian McMillion (Wanda) of Chapin and Melody Oliver of Gaston; great grandchildren, Adriana Rafanelli, Grayson McMillion, Gavin McMillion, Madeline McMillion, Taylor McMillion, Rey Oliver and Kayden Oliver. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Dolline Powell and Brenda Powell, and a son, Ray Powell.
