Obituary

Billy "Bill" Reid Cook, 75, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at NHC of Greenwood.

Born on April 13, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was a son of Sylvester and Elizabeth Hamlett Cook. Bill earned a bachelor's degree from Lander University after attending Clemson University, paving the way for a successful career in sales. He served for many years as the manager of the garden center at Park Seed, where he nurtured not only plants but also relationships with customers and coworkers alike. A man who loved to stay busy, Bill cherished working in his yard and found joy in mentoring and engaging with the children at his church. But above all, he treasured his role as a grandfather.

Bill is survived by his loving spouse of 44 years, Mary Frances Cook; daughters, Emily Carruth (Bryan), Leigh Bradberry (Steven), and Kelley Cook; sister, Cathy Bryant; brothers, Dewey Cook (Carol), and Alvin Cook (Betty); and grandchildren, Chase Reid Carruth and Alekai Bradberry.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Cook and brother-in-law, Lanny Bryant.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Harley Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Dale Levan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 pm - 2:00 PM.
