Billy "Uncle Billy" Hollingsworth, Jr., 61, of Davis Street, Greenwood, husband of Kathy Brewington Hollingsworth, died Friday, August 16, 2019; after an eleven year battle with cancer, he died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Billy Hollingsworth, Sr. and Margaret McAlister Hollingsworth. Billy was a former foreman with the SCDOT and a member of Augusta Highway Baptist Church. He was an avid drag racer and a classic car enthusiast. Billy was a loving husband and father, but his grandbabies were the one's he loved the most because being called "papa" was his greatest blessing.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Kathy Hollingsworth Cribb "Tatter Bug" (Andy "Slim") of Greenwood; a step son, Tony Jennings (Martina) of Asheville, NC; two sisters, Dianne Cantrell and Gail McAlister; a brother, Sammy Hollingsworth (Faye), all of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Kayleigh and Kolby Cribb; six step grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday at Augusta Highway Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Griffin and Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Hollingsworth, Jr., Gregg Hastings, Jimmy Brashier, Tray Cribb, Jason Wallace and Bradley Hollingsworth.
Honorary escort will be Ted Walker, Jimmy Ray Madden, Hardy Abernathy, Rudy Wallace, Dent Johnson, Dr. Kevin Rust, Gary Burel, Dr. Johnna Sadurski, Wade Bryant; along with the SCDOT Employees and the Ware Shoals Drag Way Racing family.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 pm.
