Obituary
Billy R. Thigpen, 86, of Mathews Heights, husband of Ardala Evans Thigpen, died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at HospiceCare of the Piedmont.
Born in Stapleton, GA., he was the son of the late, Beauford and Myrtis Lucille Thigpen. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant and a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible School Class with perfect attendance for 46 years. Mr. Thigpen was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving is his wife of the home and several cousins.
Graveside services, with military rites, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dustin Sims officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, 509 W. Kirksey Drive, Greenwood, SC 29646 or HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
