After 97 beautiful years of life, and as a faithful member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church for 89 years, Blanche Cooper Sligh passed on October 31, 2018. Known as Mother and Mammy to the ones closest to her, we will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her faith, and her love for family and friends. Our Mammy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Benjamin Lewis Sligh, her daughter Jane Cain, a granddaughter, and each of her siblings. Mrs. Sligh is survived by her daughters Mary Lee Ellison and Miriam Babineau, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Lowell Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cheryl Remchuck officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Harley Funeral Home.
In remembering our Mammy, her family asks that you honor her by spending time with your families, hugging your loved ones, and honoring your enduring friendships, lifelong and beyond. If you wish to commemorate her, Mrs. Sligh's family requests that donations be made in her name to Lowell Street United Methodist Church, of whose congregation she was a faithful member for 89 years.
