Bobby Lee Watts, 89, of Greenwood, widower of Carolyn Martin Watts, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his home.
Born on November 19, 1933, in Greenwood, SC, he was a son of the late Harrison Montgomery Watts and Lola Morris Watts.
Bobby's entrepreneurial spirit ignited at a young age, as he embarked on his first business venture at the tender age of eight, selling boiled peanuts outside the local mill. This early glimpse into the world of business paved the way for his future endeavors, leading him to become a highly accomplished owner and operator of Emerald Specialty and Bob's Vending.
Sports played a significant role in Bobby's life. As a young and talented athlete, he excelled in sports and was recruited by the Panola Baseball team. Bobby's passion for sports never stopped. He was a devoted fan who cheered on all his favorite teams. Bobby could talk all sports with you all day always keeping you entertained.
In addition to his professional achievements, Bobby was known for his caring nature and devotion to his family. As a dedicated caregiver, he selflessly looked after his mother, his sister, his wife, and his cherished grandchildren. Family was paramount to Bobby, and he found immense joy in spending quality time and creating treasured memories with his loved ones.
As a veteran of the United States Army, Bobby proudly served his country during the Korean War. Although he confessed the cold climate was not to his liking, his commitment and loyalty to serving his nation remained steadfast.
Above all, Bobby was a devout man of faith, being a member of Harris Baptist Church and living his life guided by his Christian beliefs.
He is survived by his three sons, Jonathan M. Watts (Kayce), Jason P. Watts (Erin), and Jeremy C. Watts (Shanna); grandchildren, Kaylen Watts, Taylor Crittendon (Samuel), Lola Watts, Hayden Watts, Jack Watts, and Lucy Watts; and great grandchildren, Greyson Evans, Isla Evans, and Chase Crittendon.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Wiley, Ruby Watts, and Helen Miller and two brothers, Eugene Watts and Roy Watts.
Graveside services, with honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Franklin McCoy officiating.
