Brenda Gail Avery, 69, of Greenwood, S.C., passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Born March 29, 1954 in Greenwood, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Vernon Sheppard and Mary Powell. Brenda loved spending time with all her family and friends. She was always full of life and laughs.

She is survived by her husband, Marshall Avery of forty years; daughter, Missy Stroud (Tim); two stepdaughters, Donna Garber and Rhonda Coats; grandchildren, Bryan Austin Davis, Chasity Freeman (Bradley), Michael Edwards (Jenny), Jason Swancey, David Allen Coats (Rachel), Alice Brooks, Ty Stroud, and Josh Stroud; seven great grandchildren; brother, James Sheppard (Sissie); sister, Alice Faye Doolittle (Harold); and brother-in-law, Ray Murray.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Davis and two sisters, Polly Lawter and Cathy Murray.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Smith, Russell Brewer, Randell Barrett, Butch Cobb, Russell Hughes, Dennis Kelly, Allen Fortner, and Glenn Wideman.

Honorary escort will be patrons of the "Round Table" at Avery's Restaurant.

The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
