Wayne Ernest Ouzts, 76, known by family and friends as "Buster", of 116 Pucketts Cove, Greenwood, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
Born on November 22, 1946, in New York City, NY, he was a son of the late Wayne M. and May Tufts Ouzts. Buster was a US Army veteran and worked many years for Ralph Mathis Plumbing before moving to Hilton Head Island. He and his family lived on Hilton Head Island for 25 years where he helped build the Hilton Head Christian Academy. He was the owner of BJ Enterprises as well as an Evangelist and President of Truth Evangelistic Ministries for over 30 years where he and his wife Jenny worked with at risk children and families in need. After moving back to Greenwood in 2009 he and his wife started the Gage Street Community Kid's Club. He was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Buster was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, "Jenny" Virginia Williams Ouzts; his children: Jennifer E. Ouzts Sorrow (Scott), Elijah W. Ouzts (fiancé, Terra Johnson), John S. Ouzts (Jennifer) and Jessie T. Ouzts; grandchildren, Korbin Ouzts, Harper Ouzts, Maevyn Ouzts, Islan Ouzts, Daisy Sorrow, Deanna Sorrow; two brothers, Lawrence Ouzts (Brenda) and Kent Ouzts (Debra); two sisters, Donna McDowell and Suzanne Rushton (BoBo); sisters-in-law, Jan Ouzts, Madonna Johnson (Homer) and Kay W. Dangerfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Buster's family was his joy. He was a great man of God and loved helping others and sharing Jesus with those he met. He was loved very much and is at rest in Heaven and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday at South Main Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Toby Frost officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at Harley Funeral Home from 5-7 pm.
