Carl Daniel Sanders, 77, of 305 East Creswell Ave, Greenwood, widower of Brenda Joyce Balser Sanders, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Seneca, SC, he was a son of the late John Carl Sanders and Ina May Cox Sanders. Carl retired from the U. S. Marines Corp, serving during Vietnam. He was the former director of Greenwood County Voters Registration and Elections Office and attended First Baptist Church of Ninety Six.

Surviving are his stepchildren, Jason Balser (Valerie) of South Riding, VA, Richard Balser of Greenwood, Susie Balser of Normal, IL and Sherry Littleton (David) of Newport, NC; a sister, Martha Braswell (William Paul) of Charlotte, NC; and three grandchildren, Lauren Balser, Morgan Balser and Ryan Balser.

Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11am on Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating.

The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home and Crematory on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm.
