Carolyn Louise Hawkins Joiner, 77, of 121 Northgate Street, wife of Walter E. Joiner, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Harold M. Hawkins and Louise Buchanan Shands. Carolyn was a graduate of Palmetto High School in Williamston and was employed for many years with finance companies and restaurants. She was a faithful member of New Market Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Helping Hands Sunday School Class and the Golden Heirs. She was formerly the leader of the bereavement team, worked tirelessly in the kitchen and was always visiting other members during their times of need.
She is survived by her husband of the home; two daughters, Robin Garner and Paula Kyzer, both of Greenwood; stepsons, Eddie Joiner (Carol) and Allan Joiner, both of Abbeville and Barry Joiner (Cecelia) of Greenwood; a step daughter, Jayne Bagwell Shealy of Greenwood; a grandson, Levi Scott and great grandson, Hunter Scott.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond M. Hawkins.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Sprouse officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jim Bright, Joseph Rotella, Richard Hyp, Bob Emily, Royce Kidd, Bob Webb and Bobby Robertson.
Honorary escort will be members of the Helping Hands Sunday School Class of New Market Baptist Church along with Laura, Willie, Martha, Arnett and Dr. Todd Gallman.
The family sincerely appreciates the care given to Carolyn by the staff of the Cancer Center and the staff of Hospice House.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 3 p.m.
