Carrie Elberta Whitten Wideman, 93, of McCormick, widow of George Wideman, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at her home. 

Born on August 5, 1932 in McCormick, SC she was a daughter of the late J.C. Whitten and Ida Mae Turnage Whitten.

Carrie had a deep passion for nature’s beauty, spending countless happy hours working in her garden and tending to her favorite flowers. Yet, as much as she cherished her garden, her true heart was always with her family. Family was her entire life, and nothing brought her greater joy than having everyone gathered together under one roof, sharing laughter, stories, and love.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Cogdill, Brenda Still, and Georgette Bowman; sister, Cornia Jones; ten grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, J.C. and Ida Mae and husband, George, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Ola Mae Parton, Leona Cannady, Gladys Ferqueron, Nellie Spence, Kathleen Holder, and Helen Banks; brother, Ervin Whitten; grandson, Mike Cogdill and granddaughter, Michelle Willis.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Wideman Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be her great grandsons, Justin Price, Gavin Henderson, Rion Bowman, Nathan Still, Gage Still, Talon Deloach, and Chad Cogdill.

The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
