Obituary

Carroll Jester Addy, 85, of Ninety Six, widower of Ellen Derrick Addy, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023.

Born in Saluda, he was the son of the late Ralph Stone Addy and Cleo Jester Addy. Carroll was in the SC National Guard and retired from Daniels Construction. He was an avid basketball fan and especially enjoyed cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers. He enjoyed fishing, also cooking fish and took great pleasure in sharing his culinary expertise with his friends and family. Carroll also had a green thumb and found solace in gardening vegetables which he proudly sold at Addy's Trading Post. He was a man who welcomed all with open arms and had an unwavering love for everyone he encountered. His genuine compassion and infectious smile touched the lives of many, forging lifelong friendships wherever he went. Carroll was a faithful member of New Market Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and David Addy.

Surviving is his fiancée Sheila Emery of Waterloo; a sister, Wanda Dunbar (Elton) of Pelion, SC; sister-In-law: Helen (Bill II) Hall of VA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11am on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Newberry Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Stanley Sprouse officiating. Following the graveside, a celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Friday at New Market Baptist Church.
