Catherine Barnes Phillips, 88, of 1803 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, widow of Judge T. Phillips, Jr., died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born on January 8, 1931 in Canon, GA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Andrew Barnes and Lou Etta Bell Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise Thomas, Lendsey Barnes, Josephine Rish and Hoyt Barnes. Catherine retired from Greenwood Mills – Durst Plant where she worked for more than 30 years and was a member of the Hardee's Breakfast Club. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Tabernacle and the Ladies of Trinity Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her children: Scarlet Dale Byars (Milton) of Greenwood, Sandra Wanda Brown (Ed) of Waterloo, Kathy Elaine Bryant of Greenwood, Judge Thomas "Tommy" Phillips, III of Orlando, FL and Raymond Lendsey Phillips (Ramona) of Greer; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 am on Monday at Trinity Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. Tony Pettit, Rev. Randy Ouzts and Rev. Johnnie Waller officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Christopher Huber, Edward Brown, Richard Brown, Earl Blizzard, Jr., Andrew Phillips and Thomas Phillips.
Honorary escort will be Steve Rhodes, Ed Pulliam, Tony Phillips, Glenn Barnes, Mike Thomas and Roger Thomas.
The family will receive friends on Sunday at Harley Funeral Home from 5-8 pm.
