Obituary

Charles Addy Jester, 84, of Cross Hill, husband of Connie Corley Jester, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at his home.

Born on May 1, 1940 in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Floyd T. Jester and Elizabeth Addy Jester. Charles was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, whose kindness, service, and dedication to his community will forever be remembered.

He spent an incredible 47 years as a Human Resource Manager at Greenwood Mills, where he was known for his compassion and commitment to his colleagues. His career also included eight fulfilling years at Ballentine Ford. Beyond his professional career, Charles was deeply committed to his community, proudly serving as the mayor of Cross Hill for several years and as an active member of the volunteer fire department.

For nearly five decades, Charles was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Cross Hill, joining back in 1978. He taught the men's adult Sunday school class and served as an ordained deacon, where his warmth and wisdom touched the lives of many. His faith was a central part of who he was, and he found joy in serving others.

In addition to his wife, Connie of the home are his children, Rene Clamp (Joe) of Hodges, David Beggs of Cross Hill, and Neal Beggs of the home; sister, Barbara Shirley of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kelby Clamp, Joseph Clamp, Melissa Rains (Chad), Jennifer Wyatt (Trey), and Neal Beggs, II; great grandchildren, Carson Clamp. Madelyn Clamp, Kash Rains, Dane Hill, and Evan Cole; and special uncle, Felix Carl Addy.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at First Baptist Church Cross Hill with Rev. Robert Fleming, Rev. Brandon Corley, and Rev. Brett Davis officiating.
