Charles Burts "The Legend" Pruitt, Jr., 87, of 303 Lowell Avenue, Greenwood, beloved husband of Emily Sorrow Pruitt, died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Charles Burts Pruitt, Sr. and Marie Elizabeth Quick Pruitt. Charles was a U. S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War and was a Mason with the Joppa Lodge. He retired from Medical Textiles and was an avid fisherman. Charles was a member of Greenwood First Assembly where he was a sound tech for many years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Papp and by a son-in-law, Rick Davenport.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years of the home are his children, Karen Davenport, Robin Lawrence (Rikki), both of Greenwood and Dan Pruitt (Porter) of Greenville; a brother, Tommy Pruitt (Kim) of Greenwood; and four grandchildren, Amy Lawrence Livingston (Steven) of North Charleston, Haley Pruitt, William Pruitt and Charlie Pruitt, all of Greenville.
Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Hart and Mr. Jerry Rentz officiating. Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Honorary escort will be John Still, Ralph Reed, Ken Hodges, Watson Goldman, James Johnson, Roger Wideman and Ronnie Lewis.
The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 10-11 am.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Robin Lawrence, 211 Forest Drive West, Greenwood.
