Charles Victor Sparks, Sr., 92, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Saluda Nursing Center, where he and wife, Sybil, shared a room. They were married for 72 years, both were born on November 7 and married on their birthdays. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late John and Mildred Scott Sparks and a brother to Christine, Mary and Harry. He retired from Greenwood Mills and was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 20 and the Greenwood Country Club, where he was an avid golfer before declining health forced him to give up the game. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenwood. Surviving in addition to his wife; are two sons, Charles Victor Sparks, Jr. and John Eric Sparks, and a daughter, Jane Sparks, all of Greenwood; grandchildren, Sandra Sparks, daughter of John, and Keith Stringer and Kim Klein, children of Jane; and great grandchildren, Rachel, Kelly and Sean Klein and Alex Stringer.
