Obituary

Charles Hanson Toll, 95, resident of Wesley Commons, widower of Jane Lawther Toll, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

Born in Redlands, CA, he was a son of the late Alfred and Natalie Elsie More Toll. During his younger years he attended schools in Kansas City, MO, Valle Crucis, NC, and Danbury, CT. He was a graduate of Princeton University, where he received his degree in engineering. He was a US Navy veteran, serving during World War II, where he was a pilot for 3 years.

He and Jane married in 1947 and were married for 56 years until her death on October 10, 2002. They raised three children, primarily in Cincinnati, OH, where he was a chemical engineer for Procter & Gamble. They retired to Keowee Key in Salem, SC, where he enjoyed boating, golf, and tennis. Following Jane's death, he moved to Wesley Commons in Greenwood, SC, where he found joy in watching sports on TV and driving his Chrysler 300. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Toll in 2016.

Surviving is his daughter, Deborah Toll Bohn (Carl) of Boca Grande, FL; son, David Toll (Leona) of Mooresburg, TN; and five grandchildren, Chris Toll, Ryan Toll, both of Maui, HI, Charles Toll of Phoenix, AZ, Stephanie Leger of Felton, PA and Kristina Curry (Greg) of Chesapeake Beach, MD.

A private family service will be held at St. Pauls Episcopal Church Cemetery in Pendleton, SC with the Father Stephen Bolle officiating.
