Charles �Charlie� Barton Weesner, 75, of 212 Weesner Road, widower of Ann Lura �Annie� Hayden, died Friday, August 9, 2013 at his home. Born in Asheville, NC, he was the son of the late Roy Barton Weesner and Selma Aileen Williams Weesner. Charlie was a college graduate from Wofford College and VA Theological Seminary. He was a sales man with McAlpines Mercantile Store and was a member of the Greenwood Rotary Club. Charlie was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection where he was a member of the Vestry, served as Senior Warden, had a passion for the mission at Cange in Haiti, sang in the choir and led the Education for Ministry group for a number of years. Surviving are a daughter, Laura Staton and her husband Chris, of Lexington; a son, Bart Weesner of Columbia; a step-son, Bill Insko and his wife Sandy, of Waukegan, IL; three granddaughters: Emme Staton, Olivia Thomas and Cora Mantle; a grandson, Marshall Thomas; and a great granddaughter, Lacey Mantle. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorials may be made to Self Regional Medical Center, Cancer Center, 1325 Spring Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.
