Obituary

Dr. Charles (Chaz) W. Schlindwein, 59, of Greenwood, died August 19, 2015. He was the son of June Devak and Allan Lou Schlindwein. He earned his BS in Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology and his PhD in Mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University. Called Dr. Chaz by his students, he was a Professor of Mathematics and Computer Information Systems at Lander University until he retired in 2012 after 16 years of teaching. He was known for his work on the mathematical structures known as "Aronszajn trees " and considered one of the worlds foremost authorities on the topic of "iterated proper forcing. " He is survived by Anne-Marie, his wife of 30 years; his three children, Iris, Euan, and Esme; his sister Debbie Schmidt (John) and his niece, Tamar Schmidt. The family is at the home. '
