Obituary

Chester Pierce �Whitey� Ouzts, Sr., 77, of 1723 Martin Town Rd., Ninety Six, husband of Patricia Ann Horne Ouzts, died Monday, February 03, 2014, at Hospice House. Born in Edgefield, he was a son of the late Franklin Pierce and Nella Taft Dorn Ouzts. He retired from Carolina Pride after 32 years of service and retired from the National Guard after 24 years of service. Chester joined the Friendship Lodge #25 in 1969 and was a member for 40 years. He served as Past Master two times, toured with The Traveling Bible, along with Pat Lamb and George Nabors. Chester was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and served on various committees. Surviving are his wife of the home; a son, Chester Pierce (Lucinda) Ouzts, Jr. of Pickens, SC; a daughter, Nella Elizabeth (David) Barr of Ninety Six; two sisters, Eunice (Paul) Horne and Myrlon (Charles) Smith, both of Greenwood; �Pops� was known to the grandchildren and great grandchildren, three grandchildren, Retha Faith (Thomas) Brazell of Edgefield, Chester Pierce (Jennifer) Ouzts, III of Fort Worth, TX, and Cheyenne Mulkey of Pickens; three great grandchildren, Pierce Weston Brazell of Edgefield, Jackson Pierce Ouzts of Fort Worth, and Allie Mae Mulkey of Pickens. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Kirkland; and two brothers, George and Buddy Dorn. Pallbearers will be Burt Wetzel, Warren Johnson, Craig Inscore, Butch Holmes, Mike Byerly and Bonner Holland. Honorary escort will be Mr. Wayne Walker, Mr. Register Nicholson, Dewayne Looper, Kenny Looper, Tony Dorn and George Dorn, Jr. Memorials may be made to Greenwood Home Respiratory Care; 204 Birchtree Dr, Greenwood, SC 29649 or HospiceCare of the Piedmont; 408 W Alexander Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646.
