Lucius Caldwell "Chip" Duncan Jr. passed away on July 8, 2024, in Greenwood, SC, at the age of 83.
Born on September 24, 1940, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Lucius Caldwell Duncan, Sr. and Evelyn Mattie Belle Overstreet Duncan. Chip was a man of many talents and trades. From working as a supervisor at Arby's to running a small engine repair shop, he displayed a strong work ethic and a passion for his craft. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and kindness will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Chip was actively involved in his community. He was a Mason for 54 years and served as Past Potentate 2017 of the Al Sihah Shrine Center in Macon, GA, where he served with distinction. His commitment to service and fellowship left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Chip is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Jeanette "Jan" Childers (Chris) and Elizabeth Ann Harris (J.D.); his stepdaughter, Melissa "Missy" Sullenburger; his grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Childers, Megan and Laurin Sorrow; step grandchildren, Olivia, Hunter and Tyler Sullenburger, and his great-grandson, Cade Childers.
He was married three times, first to the late Sara Bacon, then to Anne Sullenburger Duncan and lastly to the late Sandra "Sandy" Sliger. He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Brent Lee Sullenburger.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on September 21, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends before the service from 10-11 am.
It is respectfully requested that flowers be omitted and memorials sent to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605 or to the Al Sihah Shrine Center, PO Box 3147, Macon, GA 31205 in memory of Chip.
