Ernest Coleman "Colie" Floyd, 80, of Greenwood, husband of Jackie Jean Rollins Floyd, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his home.
Born in McColl, SC, on August 29, 1943, he was a son of the late Ernest Wilbur Floyd and Mildred Jones Floyd. Colie worked for over forty plus years at Greenwood Mills before retiring. In his youth, he delivered PET milk and later served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam era.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Colie found joy in fishing and tending to his vegetable garden. His favorite retreat was camping in the mountains, where he could relax in nature's beauty. Alongside his son Mitchell, Colie enjoyed riding dirt bikes and creating unforgettable memories. He also enjoyed talking and listening to HAM and CB radios.
Leading a life devoted to service, Colie was a former Shriner and Past Master of Greenwood Lodge #91 A.F.M. He will be remembered for his sweet and kind-hearted nature, his unwavering love for his family, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie of the home; son, Mitchell Floyd (Tara) of Hodges; twin brothers, Randy Floyd of Greenwood and Rudy Floyd (Sharon Plumley) of Pelzer; grandson, Grayson Floyd; and best friend, J.W. Walker.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Greenwood Community Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Michael Castello and Pastor Glenn Link officiating. Burial, with military honors and masonic rites, will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
