Reverend Cornelius Emanuel Smith, Sr., 91, of Port Richey, Florida, formerly of Greenwood, died June 30, 2010. He was born June 20, 1919 in Aiken County, South Carolina to the late Bennett Perry and Seabelle Thomas Smith. In 1963, he surrendered to God�s call to the ministry and moved to Graceville, FL to attend Baptist Bible Institute, now known as Baptist College of Florida. In September 1967, he moved to Hudson, FL, where he pastored the First Baptist Church of Hudson, serving over 16 years. Upon retirement, he moved back to Greenwood and served as interim pastor of several churches, returning to Florida in 1995. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasmine Lakes in Port Richey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Helen, and by his sons William Ira Smith and Bennett Perry Smith. He is survived by his son Cornelius E. Smith, Jr. (Kim) of Hudson, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
