Obituary

Dakota Lee Revels, a devoted son, a beloved friend, and a hero to his community. Born on December 1, 1995, in Greenwood, Dakota left us on September 11, 2025, at the age of 29. He was a man defined by his deep love for his family, his unwavering friendships, and his passionate commitment to serving others.

Dakota served with honor as a certified firefighter at Mauldin Fire Station 45, where he found not just a profession but a true calling. His love for firefighting was evident in every brave act and every life he touched. Dakota often put others before himself, demonstrating his natural sense to help those in need. His larger-than-life personality was matched only by his great sense of humor and his joyful spirit, making him a friend to all.

A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed a range of activities, including hunting, mud riding on dirt roads, and thrill-seeking adventures like wakeboarding and snowboarding. He found great joy in riding motorcycles with his brothers from the Upstate Leatherheads Motorcycle Club. Dakota loved grilling, a perfect way to gather with friends and family, always bringing everyone together in the warm embrace of laughter and shared stories.

Dakota's love for his family was his guiding light. He always put them first, and the bond he shared with his Papa, his biggest influencer, fan, and best friend, was truly special. Since he was two years old, they attended most all South Carolina Gamecock's football games together, creating a lifetime of memories that they both cherished.

Known fondly by his mother as "Little Man," by his friends as "D-Rev," and affectionately called "The Worm" at work, Dakota made an indelible impact on everyone he encountered. Above all, Dakota was a kind and lovable man who was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first child, a baby boy he was so excited to name Dakota Revels, Jr. His legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and especially through his soon-to-be-born son.

He is survived by his parents, Belinda and Tracy Gable; fiancée, Ashlynne Smith; soon-to-be baby boy, Dakota Revels, Jr; brother, Jacob "Ethan" Gable; grandparents, Troy and Janice Sowell and Ronnie and Mary Gable; best friend, Trey Hampton; Ashlynne's parents, Jennifer and Harry Smith; and many other extended family.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at North Side Baptist Church with Pastor Chief Zac Terry and Pastor Craig McDaniel officiating. Burial, with first responder last call, will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Chad Crawford, Cody Morrison, Matthew Garrett, Tanner Mathinson, Zay Galloway, and Chris Loggins.

Honorary escort will be his fellow fire fighters from Mauldin Fire Department, Canebrake Fire Department, and Northwest Fire Department.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Dakota's love will continue to shine through the memories we cherish and the lives he touched. As we honor his life, let us find comfort in knowing he will always be with us in spirit.
