Obituary

Nesbeth Darlene Roberts, 86, resident of NHC Greenwood, widow of Franklin Theodore Roberts, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Self Regional Hospital.

Born in Ninety Six on October 4, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Tommie Pitts Leopard and Ellie Ruby Yeargin Leopard. Darlene was known for her many passions, including gardening, cooking, sewing, and crafting-activities she undertook with a great sense of joy and creativity. She loved being with her family and caring for others. Darlene always put everyone else's needs above her own. She was a member of West Main Street Church of God. Darlene was strong in her faith, always spreading the word of the Lord. She was also a prayer warrior, always praying for everyone and helping lead others to Jesus by her example. She was a true example of a Godly woman who served God in every aspect of her life. She was the oldest and last surviving member of her immediate family.

Darlene always said that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her jewels here on earth. She loved her precious husband, Frank, of 66 years, with every fiber of her being. She took care of him as he suffered from Alzheimer's for 15 years, even though her own body was disabled, until she could no longer do so and had to be taken care of herself. They resided together at National Healthcare of Greenwood until he passed away on January 11, 2023.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Hill (Rick); four grandchildren, Valerie Holland (Bruce), Alesia Richmond (Jon), Cassie Dixon (Brad), and Stevie Hill (Ginger); seven great grandchildren, Sarahbeth Davis, Maily Ngo, Nora Dixon, Mya Dixon, Emily Vandiver, Gabe Richmond, and Shelby Richmond; and numerous extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Roberts; daughter-in-law, Catherine "Cathy" Roberts; granddaughter, Jeri Roberts; three sisters, Rosa, Laverne, and Pat; and three brothers, John, Tommie, and Jackie.

The family would like to thank her caregivers of station one at National Healthcare of Greenwood for taking care of her for almost three years of her life and Self Regional Healthcare Emergency Room employees for taking care of her during her transition from Earth to Heaven and for their respect, kindness and loving support of her daughter and son-in-law on that day.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Dye officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
