David D. Matthews, 62, of 124 Tally Ho Drive, husband of Sue Cleary Matthews, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Ethel Bradford Matthews. David received his MSA degree from Central Michigan University and served as the Executive Director of Cornerstone Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. He was a member of Behavioral Health Services Organization for county directors of alcohol and drug abuse programs. David and Sue were founding members of the Greenwood Chapter of The Compassionate Friends, a support group for parents who have lost children. David was an avid musician, having begun his musical career as a bassist for �The Meridians�. He was a founding member of �Kinfolk� and presently a member of �Honeybone�. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving is his wife of the home; a daughter, Erica Mauldin of Greenwood; three sisters, Betty Burgess (Bob) of Pelzer, Gary Collins (Tom) of Pendleton and Jan Herring (Whitner) of Greenwood and a granddaughter, Meg Mauldin of Greenwood.
